Intensive Medical Spanish

Travel to Costa Rica this summer

for a four week cross cultural medical experience

Summer  2009

Session I May 30 - June 27, 2009

Session II July 4 - August 1, 2009

Based in Santa Barbara, just outside of Heredia, this program combines intensive Spanish classes focusing on medical vocabulary in combination with volunteering in medical settings for a few hours each day. The Spanish course has been carefully developed to give students the tools necessary for communicating effectively in a Spanish-speaking medical environment.

Topics include common diseases, medical equipment, taking patient histories, and other topics pertinent to communicating in a clinical setting. Participants will meet for class from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday through Friday. After a lunch break, students spend the afternoon doing volunteer work in local clinics or health organizations in order to gain practical experience and an understanding of the healthcare system in Costa Rica.

We have just opened up a new session (May 30 - June 27, 2009). Session II (July 4 - August 1) is almost full!

Please note that this is a language program and not an internship. This program does not include medical training.
