ELI's volunteer teaching programs in China are unique because of the opportunity to move into paid positions. With a minimum committment of one month, our partners at the International College at Beijing will help you to secure a paid position. Their knowledge and influence in the country can help you find a position with a reputable institution. This kind of guidance can be reassuring. You will have a Chinese institution to help you with any problems along the way. Of course, you may choose to go strictly as a volunteer. You'll find that your contribution is greatly appreciated.

Programs

Beijing

In the heart of Beijing is one of China's finest schools. Admission is merit-based, and special emphasis is placed on recruitment of underprivileged children. You will live at the International College of Beijing, on the campus of China Agricultural University. This is a great place to meet English speaking Chinese college students.

Yanqing

The schools in Yanqing are modern and well-equiped, and the faculty welcomes volunteers with open arms! You will live at the school and have your meals either in the faculty restaurant or nearby restaurants. The schools are wired for internet. You can bring your laptop or use the computers that are in the faculty lounges.

The Yanqing program offers the same job placement guidance and orientation program as the Beijing program through our partners at the International College (ICB). For some, the excitement of Beijing with its night life, restaurants, tourist attractions and university life is an easy choice. For others the calm, friendly environment of Yanqing is the clearcut winner. Either location provides a great introduction to the culture and people of China.
