Pre-Departure Advising: Our experienced staff will work with you to create a course schedule that meets your academic and personal needs. Also, living in a different country can be extremely challenging, we have years of experience living abroad and we can help prepare you for your experience through cultural awareness advising; what to expect, how to deal with it, etc... Orientation: Our in-country coordinator will meet you at the airport and help you find your way to campus. Over the next few days you will reveive an introduction to academic life in India, housing, health & safety, emergency contacts and procedures, public transportation, communication, social norms/customs and the historical and cultural life of the Indian people. On-Site Coordinator: Our coordinator, K. Krishnaswami (Krish) has worked with us since 2002. He is expereinced in dealing with student concerns,and will happily help you navigate through the inevitable logistical and personal adventures you will have! Housing & Meals: Students will live at the local YWCA. Single or double dorm rooms are available and basic furtniture (bed, desk, lamp, dresser) are provided. Buffet meals are available three times a day and low-cost options can be found in the surrounding area. Excursions and Cultural Activities: Our peer-tutor program will match you with an Indian student who will help you meet new people and adjust to life in Chennai. To immerse yourself deeper in the local community we strongly suggest participating in our well developed service learning program, volunteering at an orphanage or working with a women's empowerment program.
