Overview

Madrid, the capital and geographic center of Spain, is a wonderfully vibrant city full of cultural, artistic, and intellectual activity. What the city lacks in beaches and coasts it makes up for in art galleries, large open lush gardens and streets lined with Spain’s best tapas bars. You’ll be captivated by Madrid's art museums, royal palaces, pristine parks, and bustling nightlife. You’ll never be short of things to do—strolling through the Royal Palace, having a picnic in Retiro Park, seeing world famous art at the Prado museum, or staying up until sunrise enjoying Europe’s best clubs and nightlife. The city itself is a unique combination of old and new. Bustling commercial zones boast Madrid’s modern metropolitan infrastructure and the headquarters to many national and international companies. Yet the city maintains its quaint Spanish vibe with narrow cobbled streets, bustling squares and breathtaking historical architecture hidden around every corner.

Madrid is also the doorway to Spain: spend your weekends skiing in the mountains outside of the city, sunbathing on the beaches of Valencia, or exploring the nearby coastal city of Barcelona. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore other nearby European capitals like Paris, Rome and Lisbon! High speed trains and cheap airfare make weekend travel easy and affordable.

As an intern in Madrid, you will not only have the opportunity to experience the vibrant Madrileño lifestyle and the chance to develop your Spanish skills, you will also get an unparalleled education experience that comes from working abroad. We partner with local organizations to give our interns the best possible experience, one that will immerse them in local Spanish culture and prepare them to work in an increasingly globalized world. Interns work between 20-25 hours per week in their chosen field and will have the opportunity to participate in other social and cultural actitives as a part of their program. Internship placements are available in a wide range of areas. If you do not see your field of study listed, please inquire! Opportunities are always changing.
